An individual who laced treats with sedative and distributed them to children at a summer program in the area has confessed to sexual offenses against two children both nine and ten years old.

The defendant was taken into custody after eight youngsters and a grown-up became sick at Stathern Lodge in July.

The 76-year-old, from that region, admitted guilt to a multiple criminal counts when he stood at the judicial center on the end of the week.

Yet, he disputed one particular crime he was facing, which was concerning a nine-year-old boy.

The defendant was held in detention before a subsequent court date on November 28th.

'Treat game'

The prosecutor, handling the case, outlined the defendant's actions to the court.

She stated his victims were children from difficult backgrounds who were attending a youth camp which he ran.

The defendant played a "candy game" with the minors, Mrs Prior stated, in which he would go into the sleeping quarters when they were settling down and request they to consume candy "rapidly".

She stated to the judge the defendant had conducted this practice with the boys "repeatedly", and youngsters had earlier experienced illness the following morning.

She stated the defendant had been capable of justifying this for many years as the youngsters being "overexcited from fun", until his stepson had worries in recently.

The legal representative continued: "This year his family member had concerns about the situation, with valid cause.

"They chose" to investigate in the individual's items."

The legal counsel said materials including infant oil, ointment and medical needles were located, and his family member contacted the law enforcement about his suspicions.

She said Ruben went on to engage in the "treat game" with six children that evening - July 26th - and they were all ill the subsequent day.

"Law enforcement" had not responded by that point," she continued.

The police watchdog, the investigative body, previously told that it was investigating the police response of the situation.

The prosecutor said the minors were unable to walk properly due to being ill, so Ruben's stepson notified the authorities once more.

She said Ruben then conducted the "treat game" in a area of five children.
